Program Overview

Journey into the heart of Ohio Amish countryside for a buggy ride on an Amish farm and tours through history. Discover the origins of Amish heritage on a guided tour of a Behalt cyclorama at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center. Explore almost 28 miles of Ohio countryside on the narrated Amish Backroad Tour, meeting Amish artisans and watching homemade craft demonstrations. Gather around the table for the warm hospitality of the Amish during a welcome dinner in one of their homes with all homemade and homegrown ingredients, from fresh bread to garden salad. Enjoy an evening of hilarious entertainment at the Amish Country Theater for a two-hour variety show. Shop homemade crafts at Sol’s three stores, Yoder’s Bargain Store and more. Before the trip home, return to present day with a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Day 1

Travel to Cleveland, Berlin

Welcome to Amish Country

Travel to Cleveland, Ohio and meet the Tour Director who provides ongoing guidance for the duration of the trip. Go to Holmes County for a Behalt guided tour at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center to learn the origins of these communities. On the narrated Amish Backroads Tour, watch demonstrations of basket-making and quilting, shop at Amish artisans’ businesses and visit a bulk food store. While on the tour, visit a local Amish home and stay for a welcome dinner. After a full day, check in to accommodations in Berlin, Ohio.

Day 2

Berlin and Holmes County

Arts and Crafts

Pick up handmade crafts from one of Sol’s three stores, where there are wood crafts, candles, ceramic and much more from the heart of Amish country. Climb aboard an authentic Amish buggy, guided by a member of the Amish church. Spend an evening in laughter during a family-friendly variety show at the Amish Country Theater.

Day 3

Berlin, Millersburg and Fredericksburg

Amish Shopping

Tour the Victorian House Museum, where there is history collected and preserved by the Holmes County Historical Society. Browse the quaint shops nearby for unique gifts, jewelry or souvenirs. Spend the afternoon in Fredericksburg for an English and Amish cultural experience, stopping at Yoder’s Bargain Store for more shopping in Ohio’s Amish Country. Gather for a good traditional Amish dinner to say farewell to the country way of living.

Day 4

Berlin, Cleveland to Home

Travel Day
