Witness the ceremonial Changing of the Guard, where the New Guard marches in, accompanied by a band of the finest military musicians, taking over the responsibility of guarding Buckingham Palace from the Old Guard. Experience a touch of drama in London’s theatre district, watching a phenomenal West End performance. See all sides of the city from a double-decker bus tour, getting above it all on the London Eye, seeing Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus and so much more. Get inspired by the beauty of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the engineering of the Millenium Bridge, and the creativity of Shakespeare’s Globe.
Travel overnight by plane from San Antonio to London.
On arrival at the London airport, meet the Tour Director and take private transportation to check in to a local hotel. After settling in at the hotel, go sightseeing aboard a double-decker bus to take in the highlights and landmarks of London. Dine at a local restaurant this evening.
After breakfast at the hotel, go on a guided tour of Westminster Abbey, where royalty has been crowned since 1066. While here, explore the Poets’ Corner, where Geoffrey Chaucer is buried, the author of “The Canterbury Tales.” Visit the Royal tombs as well, where there are 30 kings and queens enshrined. Walk around Westminster, viewing the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Downing Street, Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square, St. James’s Park and Buckingham Palace. Listen to a guest lecturer discuss cybersecurity in tourism, featuring the protection of national treasures and attractions in England. Visit the Tower of London to see the historic structures, Crown Jewels and ceremonial regalia up close. Spend time in the Covent Garden area, perhaps watching street performers at the famous Piazza and on James Street. After dinner, attend a West End performance.
Enter the codebreaking universe on a guided exploration of Britain’s legendary Bletchley Park and participate in a decryption workshop. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Computing to see the world’s largest collection of historic computers that are still up and running. Return to London and get a little souvenir shopping done along Carnaby and Regent Streets before dinner.
Look towards the future on a guided tour of the City, University of London, focusing on the learning opportunities at the Institute for Cyber Security. While here, engage in a workshop or lecture with a faculty member or student. On a visit to the London Science Museum, see exclusive artifacts that represent the technological development of secret communication all the way from World War II ciphers to 21st-century digital security. After dinner, take an evening stroll around Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square, where there’s a statue of William Shakespeare.
Climb the iconic dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral in the morning, going up to experience the acoustics of the Whispering Gallery. Walk across the River Thames on the Millennium Bridge to Shakespeare’s Globe. For the afternoon, visit a local cybersecurity company to discover current cybersecurity threats and see the latest technology to protect against hackers. After a farewell dinner, soar above the sprawling city aboard the London Eye.
Start the morning with breakfast at the hotel and then return to the London airport for the journey home.
