Experience the latest trends in robotics, engineering and computer science with our Seattle STEAM program. Tour the headquarters and facilities of tech giants: Boeing, Microsoft and Amazon. Learn from the experts through interactive workshops and lectures that feature the basics of coding, programming, robotics and engineering or 3D printing. Engage in exciting opportunities in STEAM education and future opportunities, while exploring the neighborhoods and communities of Seattle.
In the neighborhoods of Seattle, where leaders of innovative technologies thrive, we invite students to discover the world of STEAM. We introduce students to the parklike setting of the University of Washington (UW) campus, with architecture that may bring to mind a school for young wizards. There is ample space to play games at UW, both in and outdoors. For a 360-degree panoramic view, we take students to see the skyscrapers and surrounding mountain ranges from the tallest outlook point, Columbia Tower Sky View Observatory.
Show students how STEAM is already a part of their daily lives, from social media to shopping. We have set up a meet and greet with a Facebook engineer, who introduces them to the coding process behind this extremely popular social media service. On a walking tour of Amazon and a visit to an Amazon Go store, students get to see the future of shopping and imagine where technology will take us from here. Inspire young minds at Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters on their Future of Tech Tour. For students excited about planes, our tour of the Boeing Everett Factory can fuel young engineers to follow their dreams of futures in aircraft engineering.
Educational experiences abound in Seattle, with so many opportunities to learn from the community and under the guidance of industry experts. Get to know the Seattle community of farmers and craftspeople at Pike Place Market on a scavenger hunt, encouraging teamwork and exploration. Engage students’ critical thinking skills in a workshop at Microsoft on the basics of coding and programming. While at Boeing, learn the building blocks of 3D printing, or robotics and engineering through an interactive workshop. Imagine all that students can achieve with these experiences at their fingertips.
Arrive in Seattle and get started with guided sightseeing by motorcoach. Afterwards, go on a walking tour of the University of Washington (UW). Check into the hotel.
Meet a Facebook engineer in the morning at UW. In the afternoon, visit a tech or game company and then go on a scavenger hunt at Pike Place Market.
On The Future of Tech Tour at Microsoft, we explore and imagine what’s possible for Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Xbox game development. Discover the basics of coding and programming during a workshop with the experts at Microsoft. Learn about the leader of online shopping on a walking tour of Amazon’s Seattle headquarters and a visit to an Amazon Go store.
Watch the amazing assembly of an airplane on a tour of Boeing in the morning. In an afternoon workshop led by Boeing professionals, get hands-on experience with 3D printing, or robotics and engineering. Play team games back at UW in the evening.
