Program Overview

Experience the spirit of Kentucky through stories of the past. March two by two onto Noah’s Ark, an immense and beautiful wooden construction based on the dimensions recorded in the Bible. See the animals that survived the Great Flood and step into the stories from the Old Testament at the Ark Encounter. Get to know Kentucky’s rich equestrian culture at the International Museum of the Horse and meet retired thoroughbred horses at the Old Friends Farm. Go on trailblazing adventures at the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, where there are 3,000 acres to discover. Float out from the port of Shaker Landing on a relaxing riverboat cruise through the beautiful Kentucky River Palisades. Connect to Kentucky’s heritage of horse racing on a stroll around the Churchill Down Racetrack, with a greeting from both the resident thoroughbred horse and adorable companion pony at the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Travel to Cincinnati or Louisville to Williamstown, Lexington

Ark Adventure

Travel to Cincinnati, Ohio or Louisville, Kentucky and meet the Tour Director who provides ongoing guidance for the duration of the trip. Go to Williamstown to experience a life-size Noah’s Ark from the Bible stories, which also features a zoo, ziplines and a timber-frame restaurant. While at the Ark Encounter, everyone is given Ark dinner buffet vouchers. Continue to Lexington, Kentucky this evening to settle in accommodations.

Day 2

Lexington

Equine Experiences

Explore the International Museum of the Horse, which is the most comprehensive museum dedicated to horses and their role in the development of civilization at the Kentucky Horse Park. Walk around the Old Friends Farm to meet the retired thoroughbred horses and hear their tales. For the rest of the evening discover more of Lexington during free time.

Day 3

Lexington to Louisville

Shaker Culture

Spend the day in Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, starting with a guided historic village tour to discover their community values of family, equality and devotion. Explore 3,000 acres of Kentucky Shaker history at The Farm, the Historic Centre and The Preserve. Cruise aboard Dixie Belle, a 115-passenger riverboat that tours below the limestone cliffs of the Kentucky River Palisades. Find the perfect gift to share back at home, and then continue to Louisville to check in to local accommodations.

Day 4

Louisville

Thoroughbred Stories

Take a guided sightseeing tour of Louisville in the morning. Afterwards, go to the Kentucky Derby Museum for a walking tour of the historic Churchill Downs Racetrack and watch “The Greatest Race.” Explore interactive exhibits that tell the stories of significant moments throughout thoroughbred racing history. Step out of the museum to meet the resident thoroughbred and companion pony in their stables. Discover more of Louisville with free time this afternoon, possibly visiting the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville Slugger Museum or Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Gather for a farewell dinner at a local speakeasy.
